National Championships
Following the Midland District Championships, the next rung up the ladder/ mountain to climb is the National Championships. These are held each year over one long weekend in late July or early August.
They present the opportunity for swimmers to compete against the very best of their age group from the entire Country.
In order to compete in the National Championships swimmers need to record a qualification time at an ASA level 1 or 2 licensed meet. The cut off date for achieving this qualification time is usually about 6 weeks before the Championships commence. The qualifying age for the Nationals is the age on the last day of the Championships. It is the age as of this date which determines age group. Swimmers need to be at least 11 years old as at that date in order to compete in the National Championships
