Midland Age Group Championships – 7th & 8th June
The 2008 Midland Age Group Championships kicked off last weekend at Coventry’s Olympic Size Pool.
The Midland Championships comprises of swimmers from both West & East Midland Districts and stretches from Northampton in the South - right up to Chesterfield in the North.
The first event on Saturday was the girls 10/11 200m Freestyle in which Hannah Greene was representing the Titans. Hannah secured 24th place in the 11/u – reducing her Personal Best by 1.7 seconds - recording a PB Long Course time of 2:35.44, which converts to 2:33.14 Short Course.
Next up was Alfie Pardoe in the 10/u boys 100m Breaststroke. Alfie finished 8th in a Long Course time of 1:36.82, which converts to 1:35.52 Short Course.
A few hours later Alfie was back in action in the 400m IM. He swum a superb race in 6:09.00 and finished third – one of the fastest 10/u boys times swum in the UK this year, but was unfortunately Disqualified for his back to back turn – lessons to be learnt!!!
Sunday
On Sunday Alfie was back in the pool swimming in the 10/u boys 200m Freestyle in which he came 10th – knocking 2.55 seconds off his PB – with a Long Course time of 2:39.27, which converts to 2:37.17 Short Course.
Elliot Hughes swam in the 11/u boys 200m Freestyle coming 22nd in a Long Course time of 2:39.00, which converts to 2:36.80 Short Course.
Finally Alfie then swam in the 100m backstroke – coming 4th in a Long Course time of 1:23.76 which converts to 1:22.86 Short Course.
