London Olympics :

Liverpool Long Course Distance Meet 16th-18th Jan 2009

Titan swimmers came away from the 3 day Liverpool Long Course Distance meet with a magnificent total of 24 Personal Best times and 11 New Club Records.

A number of individual performances stood out.

Elliot Hughes’s swum a superb 200m freestyle in 2:26.98 - knocking off nearly 10 seconds from his previous best time and in so doing getting the Midland District Qualifying time. In addition he set New Club Records in the 200m IM and 400m Free.

Alfie Pardoe went within a second of the National Championship qualification time in the 200m backstroke in a Personal Best and New Club Record time of 2:43.60.

Daniel Howell amassed a brilliant haul of 6 PBs and 6 New Club Records – in many cases taking large chunks off his previous best times.

Hannah Greene secured a 400m freestyle PB and New Club record in 5:22.49 and Annie Mellings started to wind up her time in the 200m breaststroke in preparation for defending her 200m County crown.

However  “Swimmer of the Meet” in terms of improvement must surely go to Jamie Thomas who once again demonstrated his huge potential notching up 8 PBs. There can be no doubt that Jamie is back on form!
