Radford SC 2009 Open Meet – A Tale of Near Misses

The Radford SC Open Meet was held at Ponds Forge, Sheffield on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd May.

Swimming for the Titans were Alfie Pardoe, James Wilson, Elliot Hughes, Hannah Greene, Natalie Greene, Annie Jones, Sam Holland and Thomas Holland. Well done to all of them & sorry about the late night on Saturday.

Despite a number of excellent swims which included 23 Personal Bests and the pulverising of 4 Club Records the overriding feeling in the aftermath of the meet was one of “If only!”

If only Alfie Pardoe could have swum 8 hundredths of a second faster in the 400m IM; If only James Wilson could have gone 0.9 seconds faster in the 400m IM and just 6 hundredths of a second faster in the 200m Freestyle.

These fractions of seconds were the dividing line between achieving National Qualifying Times and not. But on the positive side they now know that they can achieve them. If only the electronic giant screen had been functioning!!!

Go Annie…Go!!

Elliot Hughes swum an excellent 400m freestyle achieving his Midland QT.

Annie Jones swum a brilliant 1500m – winning the bronze medal, smashing her PB by a considerable margin, and once again demonstrating that she is no longer the lady in waiting when it comes to distance swimming. Go Annie…Go!!
