Michael Doyle Shines at Leeds

michael doyleAt last weekends prestigious Borough of Stockton Level 1 Open Swimming Meet, held at the John Charles Olympic size pool in Leeds, Ellesmere College Titan swimmer Michael Doyle, aged 9, from Weston Lullingfield School near Baschurch won the bronze medal in the 9/u 50m backstroke in a time of 0:44.52 and came 4th in the 400m freestyle in 6:23.61.

Michael was competing against some of the best young swimmers from around the UK and is now ranked in first place in both Shropshire and the West Midlands in the official 9/u ASA rankings.

Titan head coach Jon Pardoe commented “I’m absolutely delighted for Michael. As a club we have a reputation for developing extreme talent and since joining the Titans Michael has come on leaps and bounds and is a real credit to the club. I’m confident that he can continue to make significant improvements”.

Club Record Broken

At the meet, fellow Titan swimmer Naomi Craig broke the Club 12/u 50m freestyle record in a time of 0:31.43.

Other Titan swimmers who were in action at the Leeds meet included Elliot Hughes (aged 12), Alfie Pardoe (aged 11),  Hannah Greene (aged 13) and Annie Mellings (aged 13).

By the end of the weekend Titan swimmers had won 3 silver and 2 bronze medals; 3 personal best times had been smashed: and 2 all time Titan club records had been broken.
