James Faure Qualifies For Commonwealth Games Trials

james faure 1James Faure, age 21, of Ellesmere College Titans has qualified for next months Commonwealth Games trials which are being held on 29th March as part of the British Swimming Championships at Ponds Forge International Pool, Sheffield.

James who set a qualifying time in the 200m Butterfly of 2:00.37, at last years British Gas National Youth Championships, is now ranked 9th in the UK, just a few seconds behind British Olympic swimmer Michael Rock.

He will join other Titan swimmers Darren Mew, age 30, and Stacey Tadd, age 21 – all vying for places at this summers Commonwealth Games which are being held in Delhi, India.

Commenting upon his success James said “I’m really looking forward to competing at the forthcoming Commonwealth Trials and am optimistic I can secure a place on the GB team. Hopefully in doing so I can fly the flag for the Titans and swimming within the region”.

Titan head coach Jon Pardoe commented “I’m absolutely delighted for James. To be honest it is nothing more than I would have expected. He is an incredibly talented swimmer with a very bright future. He is an inspiration to our younger swimmers.”
