luke parkerTalented 10 year old swimmer, Luke Parker, has been awarded a swimming scholarship to attend Ellesmere College.

Luke, who currently attends Manchester Grammar School and is a member of the Swim Trafford team, will be joining Ellesmere College and the Titans elite swimming programme in September.

In 2009 Luke became the Independent Schools Association National Backstroke Champion and won the gold medal in the 200m freestyle at the Cheshire County Championships. He has recently been selected to represent Manchester & District at a forthcoming gala in May and has already qualified in 6 events for the 2010 North West Regional Age Group Swimming Championships.

Attending a training camp last Saturday, Luke was welcomed to the club by British record holder and double Olympic breaststroke finalist Darren Mew.

Titan’s coach Jon Pardoe commented “Luke is a very promising young swimmer and I am delighted that he will now have the opportunity to fulfil his potential. We already have some of the best 9 & 10 year old swimmers in the UK within our swim programme and I’m sure that Luke will benefit from swimming with other positive and ambitious young swimmers”.

Commenting upon his scholarship Luke said “This is a fantastic opportunity. I’m really looking forward to taking my swimming to a new level.”
