Titans Launch Foundation Squad

The Titans are pleased to announce the launch of a Foundation Squad. This 3rd squad – aimed at 7-8 year old swimmers - will become a natural feeder squad for the Junior Development Squad.

The Foundation Squad will train at Ellesmere College Pool twice a week - on Saturdays 8.30am-9.30am and Sundays 3pm-4pm. To ensure that each swimmer receives the individual attention that they require at this age, the squad will initially be limited to 8 promising young swimmers. Aside from the minimum entry age of 7, swimmers will be expected to demonstrate real potential. The emphasis of the squad and therefore its training will be aimed at creating future competitive swimmers.

Ultimately Create Future World Beaters

Commenting upon its establishment Jon Pardoe, Titans Head Coach said “I’ve long held the view that the skills required to become a competitive swimmer are best taught at an early age. Skills such as surface and underwater body dolphin and body rotation are rarely, if ever, taught in conventional swimming lessons. Indeed most swimming teachers appear to shy away from teaching butterfly altogether.  Failure to learn these skills at an early age can never be fully corrected resulting in swimmers never reaching their genetic potential. The aim of this new squad is to identify early age talent, develop it and ultimately create future world beaters”.
