Titans Take British National Championships by Storm

Chris Walker-HebbornTitans swimmers were out in force at this June’s British Gas National Championships, with all Titan competitors securing a place in at least one final.

Although this summer's FINA World Championships in Shanghai are the biggest and best swimming competition outside of the Olympic Games, the British Gas ASA National Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield, is not only where swimmers compete for a coveted national title, but also where those final selections for China are made.

World Championships Here We Come!

Both Chris Walker-Hebborn and Stacey Tadd lead with way with double gold medal victories, booking their places for China.  Chris clocked 1.57.20 in the 200m back, placing himself 6th in this season’s world rankings.  He followed this with a 0.5s personal best in the 100m and his second spot in Shanghai.  Meanwhile Stacey broke her own English record in the 200m breaststroke, this, together with her 100m breaststroke victory, put her on the way to the World Championships with Chris.

Titans Hayley Towner and James Faure also made it to final heats, with Hayley winning bronze in the 400m freestyle and 7th place in the 50m butterfly, and James  taking 8th place in the 200m butterfly final.

Titans Head Coach Jon Pardoe enthused, ‘I am delighted that some of the best of Britain’s elite swimmers are part of our Titans squad.  Their achievements during these National Championships have not only been yet another outstanding display of swimming talent for the club, but provide inspiration to the younger Titans swimmers who seek to emulate these superb role models.’
